Tata Electronics and Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL) Partner to Unlock Next Wave of Semiconductor Indigenization

New Delhi, 17 September 2026:  Tata Electronics, a pioneering leader in India's electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sector, and Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), India’s only Integrated Device Manufacturing (IDM) facility under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic collaboration to advance semiconductor indigenization. This partnership spans design, process technology, supply chain localization, and talent development to bolster India's semiconductor ecosystem.  The partnership builds upon the Government of India’s recent call to “Make in India, Innovate with India, Scale for the World”. 

As part of the agreement, Tata Electronics and SCL intend to explore strategic collaboration across critical technology areas including chip design services for Government and startup projects, technology node enablement to broaden access to advanced nodes. The partnership will also focus on supply chain localization for a more resilient domestic ecosystem, and workforce skilling to build India’s semiconductor talent pipeline. Together, Tata Electronics and SCL aim to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing base, unlock opportunities for domestic and global customers, and advance national priorities in aerospace, defence, strategic, and emerging technology domains.
